For those of us that have read Girl With the Pearl Earring we know that the actual painting on the cover plays into the storyline of the book. I don't really know much about Elske, but from a quick summary scan I don't think it has anything to do with the painting or artist, Vermeer. I happened across Elske in a bookstore today.
Have you noticed any lookalike covers lately?
Not until I read about it here. Where do you find this sort of stuff? I am amazed whenever I read this!
ReplyDeleteHave you seen the cover of Twelve Long Months? Well, the same male model, in nearly the same position, is the cover of a book that I think is by Aimee Friedman...I can't rightly remember though. And the thing is, I'm not even completely sure if it's the same publisher...
ReplyDeleteJ. Kaye- I just saw the book while out book shopping yesterday and made a note of the title ;)
ReplyDeletethe compulusive reader- Yes I have seen that, I actually posted several covers featuring the same photo and then several others for the same shoot. You can see them here: http://aleapopculture.blogspot.com/2008/05/lookalikes-3.html

This is definitely stock photography and popular at that!
I love these :)
ReplyDeleteooh another good catch:)
ReplyDeleteKathleen- Me too!!!
ReplyDeleteTracy- Thanks, it's so fun hunting for these isn't it!
I've enjoyed looking through all your Lookalikes. I have another novel with this Vermeer painting on it but can't remember what it is. Too many books in my library i guess. Yours is the second book blog I've seen with this feature.
ReplyDeleteIt's an interesting one.
Sandra- Thanks! Yeah I've noticed a lot of people noticing lookalikes lately. I love it! I started doing it with dvd covers and movie posters maybe a year or so ago and then when I started reading more books and reading about books that's where my attention went. I just can't help but notice them!
