Released April 17th!

I've been reading the author's blog often in the last year. She's really fabulous and has a great sense of style and how to incorporate DIY into it. I was disappointed to find out she didn't have a book at that time but now she does! When I found out I ran right home and pre-ordered it!

The founder of her own popular line of food-inspired fashions, Twinkie Chan has whipped up a feast of head-turning scarves, mittens, hats, and more so that her many fans can learn to make her culinary creations at home.

You'll also learn how to make a pair of strawberry fingerless mittens, a chocolate cupcake hat complete with a cherry on top, and even a coconut-lemon cake tissue box cozy. Twinkie Chan's Crochet Goodies for Fashion Foodies is divided into three chapters--Sweet Things, Fruits and Veggies, and Savory Stuff--and comes complete with an illustrated how-to section, lists of "ingredients" for each project, easy-to-follow, step-by-step directions, and full-color photos and illustrations. Beginning and experienced crafters alike will go wild for these quirky, colorful, wearable confections.

Released November 2nd 201

I will admit, when I added this book to my wishlist last Spring I was a little hesitant. I've encountered "wacky" craft books that turned out to be so wacky they were basically unusable in the real world. Shelf Awareness recently had a dedicated issue for this book's publisher Andrews McMeel Publishing that included a ad for Twinkie Chan that lead to her website/blog and a video featuring her making a cupcake scarf from the book. Well, I can tell you I am 1,000% sold on this book now, it seems like so so so much fun but still things you could actually wear and make for other people. I love Twinkie Chan's whole look and collection she has created. I'm excited to hopefully get this book soon!

The Big Crunch by Pete Hautman

Amazon.com:

A funny, clear-eyed view of the realities of teenage love from National Book Award winner Pete Hautman.

Jen and Wes do not "meet cute." They do not fall in love at first sight. They do not swoon with scorching desire. They do not believe that they are instant soul mates destined to be together forever.

This is not that kind of love story.

Instead, they just hang around in each other's orbits...until eventually they collide. And even after that happens, they're still not sure where it will go. Especially when Jen starts to pity-date one of Wes's friends, and Wes makes some choices that he immediately regrets.

From National Book Award winner Pete Hautman, this is a love story for people not particularly biased toward romance. But it is romantic, in the same way that truth can be romantic and uncertainty can be the biggest certainty of all.

Released January 1st 2011

What instantly attracted me to this book was it's cover, I haven't seen a cover this fantastic in a long LONGGGGGGG time! And the story sounds really really awesome as well, for some reason it's giving off a 500 Days of Summer vibe, with the whole seasonal thing. I can't wait to check it out!

I don't really go for Sci-Fi like ever, but the summary really stood out as different and then I read the first chapter. I'll definitely be buying this one in hardcover, which I never do!

The Lipstick Laws by Amy Holder

GoodReads.com:

At Penford High School, Britney Taylor is queen bee. She dates whomever she likes, rules over her inner circle of friends like Genghis Kahn, and can ruin anyone's life as easily as snapping her perfectly manicured fingers. Just ask the unfortunate few who have crossed her.

For April Bowers, Britney is also the answer to her prayers. With zero friends and nothing close to a boyfriend, April is so unpopular, kids don't know she exists. That is, until Britney notices her. One lunch spent at Britney's table, and April is basking in the glow of popularity.

But Britney's friendship comes with a price tag.

How much is April willing to pay?

Released April 4th 2011

This sounds sort of like the beginning of Mean Girls which ruled so I'm sure it will be great as well. I'm interested to see what the price of popularity is in this book.

The Lying Game by Sara Shepard

GoodReads.com:

New York Times bestselling author Sara Shepard’s new series weaves a mystery of long-lost twins, mistaken identities, a duplicitous circle of friends, and cold-blooded murder. Combining juicy plot lines, to-die-for lifestyles, a tangled web of friendship and romance, magnetic characters, and sharp-witted narration from the afterlife, The Lying Game is an alluring cross between Pretty Little Liars and The Lovely Bones.

Foster kid Emma Paxton has only just discovered Sutton Mercer, the wealthy twin sister she never knew she had, when Sutton drops off the face of the earth, asking Emma to cover for her at home, school, and with her friends—just for a few days. At first Emma enjoys trying on her sister’s fabulous life: her fiercely loyal friends, her adoring boyfriend, her close-knit family. But as Emma is drawn deeper into Sutton’s world she finds the friends are not so fabulous, the boyfriend is not who she wants to be with, and the family is clinging to long-buried secrets and a veneer of functionality. And worst of all, Sutton may not be coming back. In fact, someone may have made sure she never could…and that someone knows Emma is not who she claims to be. Emma will need all her wits to survive The Lying Game.

Released December 1st 2010

If you've read the Pretty Little Liars series you know just how great this sounds for a new Sara Shepard series, how well it fits with the last! It's definitely my current most anticipated book! I'm so glad she's doing another series instead of say a stand alone book!

Arranged by Catherine McKenzie

GoodReads.com:

Anne Blythe is lucky. She's got a brand new book contract, a great newspaper job and a steadfast best friend, and she can land just about any man she sets her sights on - and the ones that appeal are typically tall, dark and handsome.
Problem is, the men she chooses never last. Shortly after yet another relationship goes down in flames, Anne comes across a card for what she believes is a dating service, and pockets it just in case. If she's so unlucky in love, maybe she could use a little assistance. Then her best friend announces she's engaged, and envy gets the better of Anne. Now's the time, she decides, to give the service a try - and she is shocked to discover that what the company specializes in are exclusive, and pricey, arranged marriages. After learning of the company's success rate, however, she overcomes her reluctance and signs on. After all, arranged marriages are the norm for millions of women around the world, and she's not done so well selecting a mate on her own. So why not use a professional service that claims it can produce the perfect match?
Some time later, Anne is travelling to a Mexican resort, where in one short weekend she will meet and marry Jack, the man they have chosen for her. And against all odds, it seems to be working out, until Anne learns that Jack and the company who arranged their marriage are not what they seem at all.

The idea of arranged marries have always intrigued me and what an interesting twist on that this seems to bring. And then another twist on top of that? SOLD!

Maddie Moore's whole life needs a makeover.

In one fell swoop, Maddie loses her boyfriend (her decision) and her job (so not her decision). Starting over won't be easy. Yet Maddie sees the potential for a new home and a new career-if only she can convince her two half-sisters to join her in the adventure. But convincing Tara and Chloe will be difficult because the inn needs a big makeover too.

The contractor Maddie hires is a tall, dark-haired hottie whose eyes-and mouth-are making it hard for her to remember that she's sworn off men. Even harder will be Maddie's struggles to overcome the past, though she's about to discover that there's no better place to call home than Lucky Harbor.

Being new to the romance genre a lot of series are already in progress (i love series!) so it's always exciting for me when I can find a brand new series to start from the beginning, and still read a new release! This sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun! Half-sisters! Yay! I've been wanting to try a Jill Shalvis book for awhile now!

Simple Times: Crafts for Poor People by Amy Sedaris

Amazon.com:

America's most delightfully unconventional hostess and the bestselling author of I Like You delivers a new book that will forever change the world of crafting. According to Amy Sedaris, it's often been said that ugly people craft and attractive people have sex. In her new book, SIMPLE TIMES, she sets the record straight. Demonstrating that crafting is one of life's more pleasurable and constructive leisure activities, Sedaris shows that anyone with a couple of hours to kill and access to pipe cleaners can join the elite society of crafters.

You will discover how to make popular crafts, such as: crab-claw roach clips, tinfoil balls, and crepe-paper moccasins, and learn how to: get inspired (Spend time at a Renaissance Fair; Buy fruit, let it get old, and see what shapes it turns into); remember which kind of glue to use with which material (Tacky with Furry, Gummy with Gritty, Paste with Prickly, and always Gloppy with Sandy); create your own craft room and avoid the most common crafting accidents (sawdust fires, feather asphyxia, pine cone lodged in throat); and cook your own edible crafts, from a Crafty Candle Salad to Sugar Skulls, and many more recipes.

PLUS whole chapters full of more crafting ideas (Pompom Ringworms! Seashell Toilet Seat Covers!) that will inspire you to create your own hastily constructed obscure d'arts; and much, much more!

Released November 2nd 2010

Ok, Amy Sedaris is hilarious, her last book was hilarious and THIS probably is going to take the freaking cake. The description sounds hilarious and I cannot wait to see how she poses in this book, ha! I saw the cover on a display at BEA and snorted, good times.

The Julian Game by Adele Griffin

Amazon.com:

All new girl Raye Archer wants is a way into the in crowd, so when ice-queen Ella Parker picks her to get back at her ex, the gorgeous Julian Kilgarry, Raye is more than game. Even if it means creating a fake Facebook identity so she can learn enough about Julian to sabotage him. It's a fun and dangerous thrill at first, but Raye hadn't counted on falling for Julian herself and igniting Ella's rage.

As Raye works to reconcile the temptress Elizabeth with her real-life self, Ella serves up her own revenge, creating an online smear campaign of nasty rumors and trashy photographs. Suddenly notorious, Raye has to find a way out of the web of deceit that she's helped to build, and back to the relationships that matter.

Adele Griffin's riveting novel explores the issues of generation Facebook: the desire to be someone else, real versus online friends, and the pitfalls and fallouts of posting your personal life online for all the world to judge.

Released August 26th 2010

Not really sure what's going on with the cover looks like they've taken this facebook fight into outerspace and the future a la the Fifth Element, but maybe the book will clue me in to what's happening there. Anyhow the book sounds great. I really like stories that deal with technology and how it can be used for good and for BAD. And mean girl stories are always interesting too!

Rich and Mad by William Nicholson

Amazon.com:

This is a compelling and beautifully written novel about first love, first sex, and everything in between. Maddy Fisher has decided to fall in love. And not just any sort of love: can't-eat can't-sleep crazy in love. Rich Ross is after the same thing. He's set his sights high, and he's going to make it happen. The problem is, in life's messy whirlwind of friends and lies and sex and porn, the real thing can be hard to fine. But there's always a first time for everything...

Released September 14th 2010

A Girl, A Ghost, and the Hollywood Hills by Lizabeth Zindel

Amazon.com:

When Holly's mother dies unexpectedly, she thinks things can't get much worse. But then her dad starts dating again. And his new girlfriend is Holly's aunt and her mom's sister! Aunt Claudia is known in Hollywood as the Queen of B Movies. Horror films, zombie flicks, she's made them all. Holly never liked her aunt, but now she positively can't stand her. Especially once the ghost of her mother appears and tells Holly that Claudia was to blame for her death.

Inspired by Hamlet, this funny novel about the danger of family secrets is a modern comic take on a classic Shakespearean tragedy.

Released October 14th 2010

I'm so glad this says "comic take" in the summary cause Hamlet = not very light! I think this could be a lot of fun. Could totally see Holly trying to take down her aunt, I love that her aunt is the Queen of B Movies! I'm sure we'll get some great movie descriptions in the book!

Glee: The Beginning by Sophia Lowell

Amazon.com

Ok so there is no summary for this book that I can find yet, but that doesn't matter! This was on the wall of the Hachette booth at BEA (they gave out shirts with a Rachel quote on them) and the second I saw it I started asking questions. I found out, as you can probably tell from the title it's a Prequel to the show. And on Amazon in the title it also says (Glee Original Novels) like there will be more!

And yes I know what you are thinking, books based off tv shows are usually kind of weird and I don't think I've read any since Clueless, but this, this I will buy the day it comes out! It's freaking GLEE people! And also another added benefit for me, it's paperback, double awesome!
