Lookalikes 176

Very similar but a little different, I think the hand on The Secret Diaries just adds a nice touch and enough interest to an otherwise very plain set of covers.

Lookalikes 175

Liar Society owns this one. I love this cover! I love all the saturation and the slants and the black and yellow, it is just RIGHT. You will notice sometimes when an image is flipped it looks great both ways and sometimes it just looks right one way and weird the other. For some reason on Karma Kitty the girl's face almost comes off as flat, weird right?

Dry as Rain wins it for me, I like the composition of the image here at lot better, sometimes bigger is better! I will say the title band is kind of bland though.

Great case of seeing a before and after of a heavy photoshop job. I think the after (Fury) turned out amazing, hair is so hard to work with and make natural so props to them, plus the vibrancy of it, love it!

I think Carrier of the Mark keeps it cleaner with the placement of the title and also the simpler background.

Lookalikes 170

Hmm I don't think either nails it here. On Bet I like that you see more of the girl but it cuts her off at her neck, very awkward. And Fool's is almost cropped in too much but at least you get some face! I do like the color palette's being used on both though! The fonts, they aren't my favorite for the titles.

Lookalikes 168

I think Possessions achieves a better layout in this very similar layout smackdown. In Possession there is motion (the hair) and dimension (face slightly turned) also there is some visual hierarchy with the girl taking center stage (instead of the house). While the covers are very similar the things I just listed are lacking in Deception.

While these aren't exactly the same they have a lot in common (little girl feet, skirts, outside setting etc). I prefer The Time Traveler's Wife because while there is more going on in the picture there is less going on in the title and it just flows better for me, plus love that aqua color!

For not being the same image these are very very similar! I do like how both bring some green foliage into the mix to counteract all the darkness in the trees. Am I the only one that has no interest in seeing Snow White and the Huntsman?

I really like this layout, especially in the case of How to Be Single, great lighting and color.

These both are kind of creepy, on Flawless where is her nose? And on Dangerous Angels, those eyes must be exaggerated!

Definitely The Vespertine in this case. Dark Angel is very very VERY washed out, we can't have that!

Lookalikes 162

Do you think that's the same girl on both covers? The same picture even? After studying them for awhile I think, yes they are the same, but Sink or Swim got a heavy HEAVY photoshop job. Now, speaking to the covers themselves, neither stands out for me as spectacular but Harbinger wins for its simplicity, Sink or Swim has way too much going on. I really don't even know what I'm looking at, I think the summary would have to give some more explanation for it to make sense.

Usually I love compositions that are cropped in a little bit but in this case I'm enjoying Imaginary Girls because of all the movement in the image.

Lookalikes 160

Both of these covers are perfectly pretty. Image treatment-wise I think I like Intangible a bit more because of the purple gradient going over the image, but the sparkle in Glimpse really blends into the image really nice and doesn't look artificial.

It's umbrella time! I definitely prefer Dearly, Departed. Love the color variation while still remaining pretty much two-toned. Also love the composition, basically both covers are using the same set of tools (color, image, feel) and one just does it better in my opinion.

Lookalikes 158

Here's a straight forward lookalike, pretty much the same cover created using the same layout and photo. When images of people go into the cool hues (like in Forgotten) the person starts to look dead (especially in the lips) based on the summary it doesn't seem like this book is about death (but who knows).

Lookalikes 157

So this cover for Boys, Girls and Other Hazardous Materials was only seen on the ARC I believe. It's really crazy how similar these covers are, I don't have too much to say about it but woah.
