Knit Two CBS.com Novel Adventure Giveaway!

Day 9 of CBS.com's Novel Adventures Giveaway! (Last Giveaway!)

To see the rest of the giveaways click here!

Today's Question: If you knit, what is one favorite memory of knitting? If you don't knit, like me, do you wish you did? (I wish I knew how!)

From Amazon.com:

The sequel to the number-one New York Times bestseller The Friday Night Knitting Club, KNIT TWO returns to Walker and Daughter, the Manhattan knitting store founded by Georgia Walker and her young daughter, Dakota. Dakota is now an eighteen-year-old freshman at NYU, running the little yarn shop part-time with help from the members of the Friday Night Knitting Club.

Drawn together by the sense of family the club has created, the knitters rely on one another as they struggle with new challenges: for Catherine, finding love after divorce; for Darwin, the hope for a family; for Lucie, being both a single mom and a caregiver for her elderly mother; and for seventysomething Anita, a proposal of marriage from her sweetheart, Marty, that provokes the objections of her grown children.

As the club’s projects—an afghan, baby booties, a wedding coat—are pieced together, so is their understanding of the patterns underlying the stresses and joys of being mother, wife, daughter, and friend. Because it isn’t the difficulty of the garment that makes you a great knitter: it’s the care and attention you bring to the craft—as well as how you adapt to surprises.

I do not knit and actually do not feel the need to knit. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law, nieces, all knit, and I have an over-abundance of knitted stuff in my closet!

  6. I think one of my favorite things was a winter hat that I made for my aunt last Christmas. It is almost exactly like one I remember her wearing when I was a kid.

  7. I just recently taught myself, so my favorite memory would have to be either the potholders I made as a starting project or the scarf I'm still (slowly) finishing. :)

  8. I am a knitter. I started knitting a few years ago and have not put the needles down since. I love the look people get when they open a gift of hand knits. They are always greatly appreciative. I also love the day when I project is completed. Especially sweaters since they take forever to knit. :)

I did learn how to knit, but I find it much too slow for my taste. I prefer to crochet.

    Would love the book, though!

  10. My favorite memory is of my mom teaching me to knit. She is very good at it and has made some beautiful things but I just wanted to make scarves and baby blankets. She has offered to teach me more but I like being able to whip up something quick, fun and mindless that keeps my hands busy while my brain does something else. I look forward to this book. Thanks for all of your contests. They've been fun!

I would love to learn to knit. A few years back, I actually bought the book Knitting For Dummies. I tried to teach myself once but gave up. Someday, I will try again:)

  14. My favorite memory is sitting in the grape arbor with my aunt Alice as she taught me how to knit and do french lace. I think that is what it was called. She did it on a small metal frame. I didn't really take to that but I still knit. This book looks good.

  18. I taught myself to knit two summers ago, by reading a how-to book. That's not so easy, let me tell you! But I was over the moon when I finished my little square hotpad. :) I haven't made much since.

  19. My favorite knitting memory would have to be seeing Stephanie Pearl McPhee at a book signing. She's a big deal in the knitting world, so I figured there could be a lot of people there, but I had no idea it would be so totally huge. There were over two hundred knitters there, and being a new knitter I was completely surprised. It's really amazing how knitting is something that can bring so many different people together. Young, old, male, female, it doesn't matter when you're with a bunch of fellow knitters, you all have this thing in common. There's this real sense of being a part of something, like you know something the rest of the world doesn't, a secret knitter's club.

    Thanks!
    Liz, a knitter.

  21. I have only been knitting for about four years. I picked it up as something to do while I stayed home with my kids. I'm having so much fun with it right now knitting up baby toys for friends expecting and knitting little clothes for my girls' dolls/animals.

I would love to read this book. Thanks for hosting the giveaway!

  22. Ever since I was a kid I wished I could knit. I taught myself how to sew (not well but I can get by if I need to patch).

  23. I have all the tools needed to learn to knit! A friend of mine knits and she's so passionate about it - I envy that! Someday soon, I'll get her to teach me a bit to get me started!

  24. My best memory of knitting is the week I spent knitting a sweater for my grandchild to be. I learned of my DIL's pregnancy on a Sunday, was in the yarn shop on Monday, and the sweater was done on Saturday. In between I dreamed and knitted.
