This Week In Books Or A Little Bit of This A Little Bit of That
Monday: nothing
Tuesday: nothing *GASP*
Wednesday: nothing *CRIES*
Thursday:
Highway to Hell by Rosemary Clement-Moore
Brutal by Michael Harmon
Surface Tension by Brent Runyon
Fate by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
So, I ran down the stairs, late to leave for work as always (damn internet) when my mom mentions she found a package outside. I had walked right past it since the light wasn't on in the hallway. UPS must deliver rather late because it definitely wasn't there at about 8:15 the night before! I'm thinking I need to find myself a copy of Tattoo by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (so Fate makes sense), anyone have any thoughts about that book? Is it good? And apparently I can read minds because I just got the second book in the Maggie Quinn: Girl vs. Evil series last week! So I'm set for that series!
Luna by Julie Anne Peters
Apples by Richard Milward
Got these from the Library Book Store, whom might I add has another 50% of sale next week, the horror! :P I swear I saw Apples a LONG time ago behind the counter and just now finally located it out on a cart, I guess that's why I go back every week, you always noticed something new!
Friday:
Paisley Hanover Acts Out by Cameron Tuttle
Once I was sure of the difference in the editions I knew I had to go back to Borders and get myself a copy! It just looks fabulous, the whole idea, the illustrations, the packaging! Check out the website!
Saturday:
The Rake and the Reformer by Mary Jo Putney
Ravished by Amanda Quick
The Gilded Web by Mary Balogh
Web of Love by Mary Balogh
So I was at the gym, feeling sorry for myself (new harder routine and without my mom and sister who distract me from the fact that i'm exercising) so I decided I should stop by the local used bookstore on the way home. And then I remembered that basically it's full of romance books which would usually mean nothing BUT then I remembered I had been talking with a friend over the last few weeks about other books I could try after reading and loving The Season. I was not at all familiar with the genre so with my friend's suggestions and the bookstore owner's help this is what I came home with! Apparently a few of these are original covers, kind of a neat tid bit! And I'm going to try and deal with the fact that they are mass market paperback with cracked spines... plus side, they were $10 total!

What do you mean, difference in editions (for Paisley)?
ReplyDeleteBut I must say, the packaging is so cool! Love it. I have the ARC, so no pretty box for me. :(
Khy- On Amazon it showed an Institutional Edition, which was hardcover with more pages. I guess it was just made especially for libraries. Did the ARC have the notebook separate or were they bound together?
ReplyDeleteThey're bound together. It has the story part, and then the notebook.
ReplyDeleteI want the Paisley book just for the packaging. I am such a sucker for packaging. That's why I always buy Benefit cosmetics because they have the cutest packaging and names!
ReplyDeleteOh you got some nice ones this week. I like the way Paisley is put together. I didn't know that!
ReplyDelete-lauren
Once again, I wish I had a Library book store even if it did mean I spent too much time there =)
ReplyDeleteThat Paisley book looks awesome-I will have to check that one out! I am about to hit up Midway Books (corner of Snelling and University) for the first time ever! I am pretty excited-I will let you know if I find any goodies!
ReplyDeleteI got that same Random House package too! It was awesome cuz I've been wanting to get the third Maggie Quinn book. And Fate looks good, though I will need to get Tattoo from the library. I'll probably give the other two away, lol.
ReplyDeleteI lurve your presentation. As cute as usual. I went to Keplers and they ahd the Paisly display stand up and I was engrossed in it. I loved how it all looked. I admit that I did not get it, because I had too much in my hand already...but will have to look into next time.
ReplyDeleteGreat week even if you didn't get anything the first three days! I want to go to my local used bookstore soo bad but I have no money. It's been over 6 months since I've been so I know there will be new stuff I'll just have to have. So I'm going to salivate over all your awesome finds. ;)
ReplyDeleteYeah, what I want to know is how you take such lovely pictures of your IMMBs. And wasn't all that crying worth it? I just borrowed the first Maggie Quinn book from the library; mucho excited for that! Tattoo was pretty good--you might as well get it. :)
ReplyDeleteI want random random package ;P
ReplyDeleteMust get Paisley ! It seems so cute!
ReplyDeletePaisley's packaging looks adorable! And I spy some historical romance in your pile... :P
ReplyDeleteP.S. I like this week's picture of a crazy pile of books

I'm over here sympathizing about the harder gym routines (and the need to buffer the workout with books). Let me ask you this: Why is it so hard to swing 12.5 pounds around? I mean, I carried my son until he weighed 40.
ReplyDeleteThe packaging for Paisley is sooooo cool. I may have to get me that! I can't believe how slow your week started -- but you definitely did good by the end.
ReplyDeleteAwesome.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize the packaging for Paisley was that cool. I loved it when I read the ARC so maybe I'll have to pick myself up a copy.
You received some interesting looking books. I want to read Surface Tension, Luna, and Brutal.
ReplyDeleteUmm..I want your life. Oh to have the time to read all of those fabulous books! I've been slacking on my actual reading since we started writing and reading your blog makes me realize how much I miss it. I read 4 or 5 books while on vacay a couple weeks ago, but haven't started anything new since we've been home. Hmmm...must fix that. Maybe The Season is just the thing...
ReplyDeleteI love the box Paisley comes in....so cute! I saw it at B&N and almost splurged...too bad I didn't have any money. ): Are the "Highway to Hell" books good? They sound really fun!
ReplyDeletewe did get some similar books!! awesome week as always!!
ReplyDeleteI read Luna by Julie Anne Peters last summer... it was good!
ReplyDeleteAwesome week! The packaging on Paisley is so cute.
ReplyDeleteGreat week. I love the packaging on Paisley.
ReplyDeleteWhile I haven't read The Season yet, though it's at the top of by TBR pile, I have read several reviews and if you want a read-a-like I would suggest the Lady Julia Grey novels by Deanna Rayburn (I'm reading the third now which made me think of it). The first one is called Silent in the Grave. They are historical mysteries of the upper class with a perfect touch of romance. Love them!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm definitely looking forward to Paisley now that I've read all these comments. Just got that one from the library this week -- no cool packaging, though.
Casey
I just mooched two of the random books from Kristi. Hopefully they won't be in my randombuzzer pack!
ReplyDeletei love the packaging with Paisley Hanover Acts Out by Cameron Tuttle, very creative.
ReplyDeleteWe are so awful because we feel left out when we don't get books, yet we have tons!
ReplyDeleteEmily Harris- i've never been there can't wait to hear about it!
ReplyDeleteSteph Su- I can't remember if I emailed you or not, I just take the picture and cut the background out in photoshop!
Beth Kephart- Good point, I just realized I could fit into some pants I love today, that I haven't been able to wear for like a year, I loved that!
Lisa and Laura- I buy WAY faster than I read. :/
Bookworm- Haven't read them yet, they look fun though don't they!
bookworm4life- Thanks for the recommendation, I'm going to write it down!
And the best part about Paisley, there's another book so it's a series or something!
Thanks for commenting everyone!
