This month I watched 6 movies and 2 tv shows, I guess not too bad?
True Blood Season 1- If you've spoken to me or followed me on twitter in the last month you know how much I've come to adore this show! (Sorry, I absolutely hate the True Blood graphic for Season 1 so I went with a picture.)
Paul Blart: Mall Cop- This was pretty hilarious, I really liked it. The only thing that was strange to me was Paul Blart's love interest in the movie was probably young enough to be his daughter in my opinion, so besides that strange casting I liked it!
Zack & Miri Make A Porno- I think this is one of my favorites of the movies put out by this group of actors/directors/writers. I really liked it.
Fanboys- Really liked this one as well, here's a full review.
Bridewars- This is just like what you would think it would be like. Cute, fun, predictable, cute ending. I liked it!
Confessions of a Shopaholic- Totally hilarious! I thought the romance was a little rushed and just happened all of a sudden but besides that a lot of fun with a few soft spots too! I've been meaning to read the book series for years!
The Secret Life of the American Teenager Season 1- I feel sort of lukewarm about this show. At first I was beyond annoyed how EVERY SINGLE plot dealt with sex in some way, making it seem like the only problems teens face are sex related, really strange if you ask me. I still dislike most of the characters but rather like a few (Henry, Alice, and Ashley). Once I start a series I have a hard time not finishing it unless it bored the crap out of me. So I've got Season 2 at the top of my Netflix queue!
New in Town- I had to see this because of the setting lol! No we don't talk like that! Anyhow, I thought it was strange how fast the movie moves like it's Thanksgiving and then 5 minutes later New Years. I felt like we should have seen a bit more to make the plot flow a little better. Overall cute though. And yes it's really that cold!
I've nominated you for an award, check it out: http://lafemmereaders.blogspot.com/2009/07/ive-been-nominated-yayy.html
ReplyDelete::supports True Blood love:: Team Eric, Team Bill or Team Sookie Can Be Alone? (sorry I only recently started following you!)
ReplyDeleteI personally don't really like Secret Life but I saw most of the first season, and I know what happened in the second because my mom watches it. And now I'm watching the third season with my mom. I'm not sure why this show has been such a constant for me. The acting is horrendous in most cases. I can't believe it's the same Molly Ringwald that are in some of my favorites like Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast Club. Her acting is more genuine and real in those movies. The only character I really find likable (for their acting and just for being the only normal person on the show) is Ben (that's Amy's boyfriend's name, right?). And Amy's sister is basically a rewrite of Ruthie from 7th Heaven (the young teenager who is wise and giving out advice to her older siblings and even parents).
ReplyDeleteI also find the plot(s) to be contrived. It's like the last few seasons of 7th Heaven which were painful to watch. I don't know what's happened to this writer but the quality has declined, in my opinion.
I also like Zack and Miri it was hilarious and cute :) Of course I also love True Blood. Eric looks SOO much better with his hair cut. Sigh. :)
ReplyDeletePaul Blart I haven't seen b/c it's not my kind of movie. Same with Bridewars and Secretlife(Well I saw 4 eps but didn't like it). Fanboys was okay to me and I have yet to watch Shopaholic. It seems cute like you say though. :D
I watched Paul Blart on a whim...It was a laugh, that's for sure. But the whole love thing kinda sickened me. I mean, she was like 20 and he's like 50...ew.
ReplyDeleteLexie- For now I'm on Team Bill! But who knows that could change!
ReplyDeleteAmee and robin_titan- I'm so glad you feel this way too, it's just weird isn't it. How like off the show can be but why are we still watching! I really just want to know what ends up happening with the baby and then if it's an adoption thing, like can the story go anywhere after that you know. I actually rather dislike Ben lol, he just annoys me!
True Blood is a really good show!
ReplyDeleteAnd, I don't mean to harsh your Netfilx mellow, but season 2 of Secret Life SUCKED. I'm watching season 3 now, and it's better, but season 2 was bad. I do recommend season 3.

Jessica Secret- CRAP! Oh darn, I didn't really like the first season but I have to see where it goes, don't worry my expectations are very low lol! And there is a long wait on the first disc so it may be awhile!
ReplyDeleteHmm...well I'm watching season 3 now and he's actually standing up to Amy about some stuff. She's become a bit know-it-all and bossy, so maybe I just like that he's putting her in her place! lol
ReplyDeleteI just couldn't get over him and his father's whole yeah why shouldn't they get married. I wanted to be like umm really?!?! He was just too lovie dovie in Season 1! I'm glad he changes!
ReplyDeleteThere was a SECRET LIFE marathon on TV. I think it was in December or January? Anyway, my husband and I watched a bunch of episodes in a row. We liked it, but we kind of hated it, too. We kept saying to each other, "We really should stop watching this now," but we couldn't!
ReplyDeleteWell, not until we forgot to record the last two episodes. That cured us completely somehow. Phew. :-D
I haven't seen True Blood yet. I keep trying to rent the first season, but it's always out!
ReplyDeleteMindi- LOL! I just want to know what happens with the baby and then after that if there is any material left for the show!
ReplyDeleteLa Coccinelle- I hope you find it! It's awesome!
I haven't seen any of these, but I'm curious about True Blood.
ReplyDeleteI started off on team Bill, but I'm now on team Eric. Read the books, watch the show, join the challenge, and you decide!
ReplyDeleteI love True Blood! Unfortunately, I don't have HBO so I can't watch the 2nd season until it comes out on DVD :/ But I hope you enjoy it!

I love the Shopaholic movie, but then, I loved the books too.
ReplyDeleteReally liked New In Town, and yes, you should definately read the Shopaholic series. The movie was super fun, but the books are even better.
