Hardcover vs Paperback 157

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des RĂªves, and it is only open at night.

But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway: a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them both, this is a game in which only one can be left standing. Despite the high stakes, Celia and Marco soon tumble headfirst into love, setting off a domino effect of dangerous consequences, and leaving the lives of everyone, from the performers to the patrons, hanging in the balance.

Definitely the hardcover this time. The hardcover is already balancing the fine line between ornamental and cluttered and the paperback tips it into cluttered. I love the color palette and I think it is used the best in the hardcover as well. Love the title on the hardcover as well!

I actually like the paperback a little more, but the hardcover has so much going on that it's so cool and stands out more to me.

  4. I don't like the paperback- I've seen it at Target, and it annoys me when the front cover doesn't line up with the length of the pages. I have no idea why publishers do that. It was like that with the paperbacks of Incarceron and Daughter of Smoke and Bone as well, and I HATED that.

  5. I usually go for the hardcovers, but the paperback seems to reveal more of the story. I like that they kept both so very similar too!

  6. I like them both. I love the hardcover as that is cover that I read. but I like how the paperback takes the UK cover and meshes it with the US one.
