Hardcover vs. Paperback 7

The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things by Carolyn Mackler

Hardcover and Paperback

Paperback

Paperback

Virginia Shreves has a "larger-than-average" body and a medium-sized inferiority complex. Her mum is an exercise fiend, her dad whistles at skinny women, and her siblings are gorgeous, clever, and impossible to live up to. They're all people Virginia thinks the world of. In fact, Virginia thinks the world of everyone but herself. Then, a phone call changes everything...

This book has tons of covers! I find the last two pretty interesting, they are almost the same cover but not. I'm trying to figure out the reasoning behind it, anyone have a guess?

Hardcover or Paperback or Paperback?

  1. I like the second paperback cover best - I don't like how the title was embroidered on the pants, always reminds me of the pants in 'Sisterhood of the...'

The copy I have is the hardcover, I think.

  4. I like the first a lot - very simple and - kinda? - elegant.

The second and third emphasize the point of the title better, though.

Out of the two of them, I like the top one better.

  5. I like the first paperback best. I don't like seeing her back. It bugs me for some reason.

  6. Umm...that is NOT a big butt!

  7. I like the middle one the best-- I like covers that incorporate the title into the image, and don't just have the title as floating text.

  8. What Lenore said. The fact that the character is supposed to be slightly overweight and yet they use that skinny little butt in the cover art kinda ticks me off. I liked the book, though. I think the copy I read had the first cover.

  9. Ow! Ow! Ow! I read the title and snorted Mt. Dew out of my nose. Lol. I like the first one the best.

Yeah, that's a great title. I'd vote for the first picture, the buttless cover.

  11. i'd say the reason for the difference between the second (HC) and third (PB) is that the PB is smaller and so the HC design shrunk down to fit would be very hard to read.

  12. I really like the second cover art best. The third one just looks like a sloppy version of the second, and the first is just too plain.

LOL. I have to check this one out but if that is a big butt I'd hate to hear what they would say about mine!

  15. I was thinking the same thing as debbiesworld! Those butts certainly aren't big! I think the last two covers fit the title more, but I like the first one better.

  16. Gabbi- It does look like Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants!

Lenore- that is a great point!!!

    Ladytink_534- Hahahahah!

I think I have two of the author's titles schedules for the next two weeks of Hardcovers vs. Paperbacks!
