The opposite of last week’s question: “What’s the best ‘worst’ book you’ve ever read — the one you like despite some negative reviews or features?”
Oh my gosh is this a HARD question! I really can't think of anything. The only thing that comes to mind is a few people saying they couldn't get into or didn't enjoy The Makedown which I reviewed a few weeks ago. I rather liked it and was surprised to hear that!
How about you?
Ooh, this is a fun question. Honestly, I love reading so many different kinds of books that I'm sure others with more literary tastes would call trash...
ReplyDeleteI went through a long trashy romance period in college. I read every single Danielle Steele, Judith McNaught and Johanna Lindsay book and loved them all.
And I read the Twilight series and really enjoyed that too. I think it all depends on what you're looking for when you pick up a book. If you bought Twilight expecting Stephen King-like mastery of the written word, you'd probably be one disappointed reader. But if you picked up Twilight looking for a fun, teen, romance, what's not to love?
I played ... even though I couldn't think of one :(
ReplyDeleteBreaking Dawn is probably the most recent. Most I think of, including BD, are ones that got both good and bad reviews. I can't think of one that was widely panned. Movies, yeah. Books not so much.
ReplyDeleteHmm, I don't really think any! Its usually the other way around..
ReplyDeleteI think probably 90% of the books I read fit that bill. I know they're bad, but I can't help enjoying them so much. This also explains why Wham's "Wake me up Before You Go Go" is one of my favorite songs.
ReplyDeleteLisa and Laura- I agree, everything is relative, I gave Twilight 5 stars but it's not the same 5 stars as a book that's totally different from it!
ReplyDeleteTeena in Toronto- It was a hard one!
Amee- Yeah Breaking Dawn was just ok for me, I did like it better than New Moon though!
Emily- exactly!
Taren- LOL! I love that song!
