If you need a refresher here's a bit of information about Twenty Boy Summer, for more information visit www.lb-teens.com:
"Don't worry, Anna. I'll tell her, okay? Just let me think about the best way to do it."
"Okay."
"Promise me? Promise you won't say anything?"
"Don't worry." I laughed. "It's our secret, right?"
According to her best friend Frankie, twenty days in Zanzibar Bay is the perfect opportunity to have a summer fling, and if they meet one boy ever day, there's a pretty good chance Anna will find her first summer romance. Anna lightheartedly agrees to the game, but there's something she hasn't told Frankie---she's already had that kind of romance, and it was with Frankie's older brother, Matt, just before his tragic death one year ago.
Beautifully written and emotionally honest, this is a debut novel that explores what it truly means to love someone and what it means to grieve, and ultimately, how to make the most of every single moment this world has to offer.
Also here is a great video of Sarah Ockler talking about Twenty Boy Summer!

My favorite summer memories involve camp - where I would spend just one week a year, away from all technology but surrounded by friends. I now go back to this camp as a counselor and still consider it The Best Week of the Year. :)
ReplyDeleteOne of the more pronounced summer memories will have to be my visit to my cousins' house when I was like 11. I stayed for like a week where me and my little cousin--just by a year, played in the background, smashed mushrooms (you know, those giant orange ones that just squish under you foot!), hide-and-seek, collecting acorns (and these little pink fuzzy nuts), raising caterpillars, and learning how to ride a bike. Add a swimming pool, a flower tree in the front yard (which we would always pick fresh flowers for the vases) and that equals a week load of funness. I usually beg my parents to let me stay an extra week ehehe
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite summer memories is when I went to California after I graduated high school. I stayed with my aunt for two weeks and we went to Vegas for a few days and all over California including San Fransico where I went down to Haight-Ashbury street which was completely awesome. I also got to meet my uncle who I had never met.

One of my favorite summer memories would going to the local pool swimming for hours, discretely starring at boys, and drinking slushies! Yum:-D

My favorite summer memories were our camping trips and I still camp every summer several times. There's just something about getting out in the woods and just simply relaxing.

my sister and I have a "sister's day" set over the summer each year where we exchange gifts and just spend the day together, so that's always a really sweet memory for me :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read this (even if I don't win)!

One of my best summer memories is when I went camping with my aunt, uncle, and cousin. I was 11, but my uncle showed me how to drive a stick-shift for the first time. I was so scared! I kept looking over at my uncle, an he yelled at me to keep my eyes on the road. I loved it.

Oddly enough my favorite summer was the summer before my senior year of high school. I got dumped :( But so did my best friend Michelle and we spent the whole summer shopping, laying out at the pool, playing putt-putt golf(not much else to do in our small town), meeting cute boys from other schools, and just enjoying ourselves. It was the most fun, stress-free summer I have ever had. (Okay, there may have been a little secret stalking of the exes, but not too much!) :)

Hello! One of my most favorite summer
ReplyDeletememories comes from when I was around age 8! My mom grew so many flowers, it was hard to find any grass in our year. She had a very large bed of Cannas that were over 6 feet tall and very densely planted.
My friends and I had many tea parties in that delightful Canna
Garden! I wish I could go back there.
Many thanks, Cindi

My favorite summer memory is when I went to Japan last summer :) It was so great! And peaceful, and quiet, and CLEAN. The people were so polite. What I miss the most is the mile long shopping place we went to in Tokyo. :)
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately the next day there was a massacre there...
You can read more about that here:

**sigh! such a lovely book :)
ReplyDeleteGirl, I've missed you.
ReplyDeleteAnd this is a great trailer and premise.
And that's all I have to say.
:)
My favorite so far was two years ago. I spent some time in Spain, going to school, sightseeing and partying til the sun came out. It was so much fun. I met great people that I treasure and I had loads of fun :)
ReplyDeleteFor several summers, every Sunday my family, most of my local relatives, and and few families of close friends would go a local park to swim, hang out, and grill out dinner. I loved those summer Sundays. Then the older kids became teenagers and hanging out at the park stopping being cool for them, so we stopped the tradition.

I suppose my favorite summer memory is when I went to Colorado with my grandparents. That's the only true vacation I have probably ever been on. :P
ReplyDeleteOh, I want a copy of this so badly!
ReplyDeleteThe summer before my senior year, my best friend and I went to Maine and stayed with her parents and grandparents on a little island off the coast where her grandparents own a house. It was ten days of paradise.
This summer will be the best because it's so packed and I have the sweetest BF.

My favorite summer memory is riding in a coach bus in Boston during a People to People Leadership Summit and singing 'That's What You Get' by Paramore with my friend. :) The whole week of the summit is one of my favorite memories.

Favorite summer memory was last summer when my 2 best friends and I drove about 6 hours away to go to the closest Van's Warped Tour :) It was so awesome and definitely some of the most fun we've had together!

My favorite summer memory is of my sisters, the neighbor girls, and I playing in the swamp behind our house catching frogs and climbing trees!

My summer memory was going on vacation with my best friend and her parents. We stayed at this really nice resort in the mountains and went horseback riding, hiked to see waterfalls, and other outdoorsy things. It was the longest I'd ever been away from my family and I loved it.
ReplyDeleteswimmer1430@aim.com
My favorite summer memory is hiking camp when I was 13. At night we would sit around the campfire gazing at the boys, sometimes holding hands. Very romantic setting for a first kiss!
ReplyDeleteholly.kay.lee@gmail.com
When I was young, every August my family would spend one week in the mountains of Vermont and the next week at Hampton Beach. The mountains and the sea - as an adult, I'd add week in the desert and that would be my dream summer vacation!

It wasn't very special then but my favorite summer memories are those that I spent at my grandmother's house. Even though she didn't have air conditioning and I'd spend most of my time reading with a fan directly in front of me, I still miss it.
ReplyDeleteNow my favorite teenage summer memory was probably going up to the pool hall (we hardly ever played; well I didn't, but we socialized and there was a locally owned movie theather next to it) ever weekend with my current boyfriend and all my friends and just hanging out and having fun.

ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite summer memories is that of sitting on my parents' front porch, drinking ice cold lemonade with my father. I think a lot of my favorite summer memories involve my dad. It was his favorite time of year.

My favorite summer memories are planting and maintaining our family's backyard garden. I love to see the plants grow and picking the fruit and veggies. Fresh veggies and fruit from the garden are the essence of summer!
ReplyDeleteemily.wittenberg@gmail.com
My favorite summer memory? Probably a camping trip to a local campground where my aunt got a little tipsy and fell on our tent. While she was attempting to get in she kept asking for help and saying that she was "cereal" (serious). It was hilarious. Definitely one of the funniest thing my aunt has done.

My favorite summer memories are of the family vacation trips we used to take & continue to take.

My favorite summer memory was hanging out at the beach with my cousin who I haven't seen in years.
ReplyDeletelovinfitch(at)aol(dot)com
My favorite summer memory is going to the zoo with all my friends. We did all the stuff we hadn't done since we were little like ride the carousel, pet goats, feed parakeets, and hang out in the big cat house.

I had the best summers with my friends. We always had fun no matter what we were doing. For years a group of us went away to a camp on a lake for a week. We had so much fun that the counselors had to split us up for some activities to make sure we got to know other campers as well. We did and we all had a great time swimming, boating, crafting having bonfires and chasing boys. It wasn't fancy but it was a great place to go every year.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your contest!

My favorite summer memories would be with friends. But one of my most memorable would be my cousin and I heading to Devil's Lake every year, and just having so much fun. We get stuck on cliffs, swim, hike etc. It's so much fun!

My summer memories are all in the same place. Every year since I can remember I have gone to my family's cottage in northern ontario and spend weeks boating, fishing and basically staying as far away from civilization as possible (its very remote). I still look forward every year to when the ice thaws and we can get to it again!
ReplyDeleteCheers,

My best summer memory is from the summer before freshman year of high school. My dad told my sister and my mom and I to pack the car for a road trip one day and an hour later we left...AND DROVE FROM NYC TO FLORIDA.
ReplyDeleteWorse, we stopped at every major Civil War Battlefield along the way.
But it was the best vacation ever. Two weeks of being on the road with my parents and dealing with my crazy dad, my sister and I bonded so much. We still bring up that vacation almost every time we have a conversation because so many crazy weird things happened. At the time we thought it was going to be awful, but it was so much fun.

One of my favorite summer memories is when me, my grandpa and my little sister went on a camping road trip through several of the western states- Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Wyoming, South Dakota. We didn't spend one night in a hotel and we made do in those really cold camp ground showers. We saw Mesa Verde, Mount Rushmore and I became really close with my grandpa as he showed us all the places that he loved to visit while he was growing up. Even though we'd have reeeeally cold nights on Colorado mountain sides and slept on rocky terrain, the views in the morning and the sounds at night beat any five star resort.

My favorite summer memory is going to Disney with my cousins and spending the entire day in the hot sun, waiting in lines to get onto the rides. Yes, the waiting was boring, but I've never talked more with them and learned so much. We're all about the same age, and get along really well, so it was fun :)

The rockin summer of the CONCERTS
ReplyDeleteme, my bFF and sister went to a lot of concerts over the summer in 2006. i was my 1st concert (311 concert) ever and it turned out pretty bad. we went to the front, we all ended getting elbowed in the ribs, separated, and rained on. then... fallout boy concert,i went with my sis who complained the whole time "is it time 2 go" so annoying...Then Rockfest which was awesome despite the vomiting sunburns, and my stupid friends lame hook up. It was awesome still got 2 hear Trapt *luv them* It rained, which cool us down b/c it was so hot that day, i vomited so embarrassing, then the fireworks went off at the end of the show.....hmmmm *thinking back*

One of my favorite summer memories is staying for two weeks at my friend's house, and one day it was really hot, so we challenged her cousin to jump in the pool with his clothes on, and he did, first thing out of the car. Then my friend and I did as well. It was really sort of insignificant, but it stayed with me, and I remember feeling really happy and really good. That was a fun summer. :)

My favorite summer memory is from a couple years ago and my dad, brother, and I drove to New York and Connecticut. This is the best memory because I live in the South, but I am a "Yankee", as they call me here, and I got to be with people I can relate to and that I love. I got to experience my culture more thoroughly. It was a blast!

One of my favorite memories of summer was when my family and I went to Chicago for the first time. We spent less than a week there, but it was extremely fun. We went to the Shed Aquarium and went to the lakes and went swimming. Other memories are always around 4th of July. Baseball is such a huge part of my life, that I always watch the Sandlot around this time and I think about friends and all the good times. :)
