GIVEAWAY: Along for the Ride

Now that you've read my review of Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen, I'd love to give you a chance to win your very own ARC copy of the book!

If you need a reminder here is some information about the book:

Amazon.com:

It’s been so long since Auden slept at night. Ever since her parents’ divorce—or since the fighting started. Now she has the chance to spend a carefree summer with her dad and his new family in the charming beach town where they live.

A job in a clothes boutique introduces Auden to the world of girls: their talk, their friendship, their crushes. She missed out on all that, too busy being the perfect daughter to her demanding mother. Then she meets Eli, an intriguing loner and a fellow insomniac who becomes her guide to the nocturnal world of the town. Together they embark on parallel quests: for Auden, to experience the carefree teenage life she’s been denied; for Eli, to come to terms with the guilt he feels for the death of a friend.

In her signature pitch-perfect style, Sarah Dessen explores the hearts of two lonely people learning to connect.

Onto the rules!

To win a ARC copy of Along for the Ride leave a comment sharing an adventure you've had in the middle of the night and if you haven't stayed up almost all night an adventure you would like to have in the middle of the night!

For 1 additional entry post/blog about this giveaway and leave a separate comment telling me you have done so.

The giveaway is open to addresses within the U.S.

Please leave a way for me to contact you if you are the winner!

The giveaway will end July 30th at 11:59 pm Central Time.

  1. Okay, my middle of the night adventure is not too exciting. When Vance was in high school, he & another young man from our town were going to Japan for several weeks. They had to be in a neighboring town in the middle of the night, so they could ride a bus to a major airport. The other fellow's mom & I drove the boys over in the middle of the night and stopped at a truck stop on the way home. I told you it wasn't much of a story, but it's all I can think of. milou2ster(at)gmail.com

  2. Oh, this is a good one -both contest and question!

One time a friend of mine spent the night, but we couldn't sleep. We thought "hey, let's ride around for a while". A while turned into a 5 hour drive, as we drove to Chattanooga and back. We were bored and it was a nice little road trip.

I used to do a sport called colorguard, which is a mix of flag-twirling and jazz dance-sort of. Anyway, at our Christmas party, all of us decided to split up into groups and play Bigger or Better. You start out with a penny and go door-to-door, asking each person if they have anything bigger or better. We started out with two pennies and ended up with a gate and a karaoke machine. It was fun! lol

Don't count me for a entry, though, since I have an ARC of my own :)

  6. My middle of the night adventure is kind of lame, but it was fun at the time. Last year, my friends Matt and Hayley and I went and walked around at like midnight. And the cops in our town are nuts, and since they have nothing to do they just patrol about, looking for kids breaking curfew. So we were walking along the highway, and when cars came, he pretended to be a tree. Then we were up on the huge hill, and the playground... basically way too long to post everything for a post :P

  9. One adventure happened in college...it was a Saturday night and I was at a movie with a bunch of guys...we were all leaving to go on a cruise to the Western Caribbean the next day. Me being the mom-type was going over a checklist. I got to "passport" and one of the guys said "we need that?" I said yup...well, his was at home in Pensacola. So the movie got over at midnight and we made a road trip (about 300 miles or 5 hours)...we got there at 5am, took a quick 1 hour nap and drove back, got home around 11 and left to go to the port!

My latest middle of the night adventure was going to see HP6 at midnight! It was an amazing movie and so funny. I then spent the night at my bff's house, eat cheesecake, and didn't go to bed until after 5 a.m. then woke up around 12. I would love to win this book, thanks!

  18. Oh, so many to choose from! Hmm...

The night before my ex, Justin, left for the army, we decided we were going to make the most of it. I live right across the road from the state park, complete with a massive forest to get lost in. Naturally, we walked around in the forest at 1am, hiding in the trees and popping out at eachother. Then one of the genius boys decided that it would be fun to make crop circles in a nearby corn field. It was one of the most amazing nights of my life so far, and a bittersweet goodbye.

  19. It was the night before I was suppose to return home after being away for college for a year. My boyfriend and I went to downtown Houston and had a blast. The evening began with a tour of the aquarium, and ended with a walk along this water canal thing. We didn't get home until almost 2. It was the perfect last night.

  20. My last middle of the night adventure was back in Feb. A friend of mine and I went to the 100 Monkeys (Jackson Rathbone AKA Jasper from Twilight's band) concrt when they were playing in Detroit. It was about an hour and a half drive so we didn't get home until about 4AM but it was SO FUN! Luckily, they are back in Detroit in 4 weeks and we're going again! Yay! (PS Luckily the show was 21+ so I didn't feel TOO old there...haha)

  30. It would have to be back in high school, when a neighborhood friend and I snuck out to break into the neighborhood swimming pool and came home at 5 a.m. to discover our parents had woken up, discovered we were gone, and after searching for us, called the police!

  31. Well mine wasn't exactly fun at the time, but when we look back it's kinda funny....

Me and three of my friends took a weekend vacation in Chicago. First, it took us over two hours to find the tallest building in the U.S.. Second, the train thing (I think it's called like the l-train or something) is separated into colors and the color we needed to get back to our hotel was broken so we had to take this complicated route.... and of course we missed our stop and it was 3 in the morning and the train stopped running. So instead of taking a cab we decided to walk it because my phone has gps. Well the walk was like 3 hours and most of it was on a sidewalk covered in broken glass that ran along the biggest cemetery ever. Oh and one of my friends was pregnant at the time. :)

    Wow that was kinda long.....

  37. My middle of the night adventure: well when I was in high school my parents never allowed me to sleepover but they would allow my friends to sleepover. We would stay up all night just doing eachothers nails, hair, pluck eyebrows, you know that sort of thing. One night we decided to tell scary stories and we were all bundled up under the covers when we heard this noise at the window (of course none of us wanted to check it out) but finally my BFF got the nerve to look and there was someone there (actually a couple of someones)... needless to say our screaming woke up my parents and we all got busted including my friends boyfriend and his little buddies that were playing a prank us. We obviously weren't allowed a sleepover for some time... but it was so much fun that night. Priceless :D

  39. I have actually had fights with people in my sleep. I only talk in my sleep sometimes but if someone sais anything back to me even if it's just huh? I can twist that and then I talk to them and sometimes fight with them. I don't think that is what your looking for though. I used to compete when I was little in dance and sometimes we would stay up really late and wander around the hotel. No this wasn't very exciting but when I was little it was super exciting!

  43. I was out until 3am with a group of my friends once. We had a very exciting adventure. I had an old 1993 Ford Explorer and as we started to venture back to my house, which from where we were was about an hour away. Well maybe 15 minutes into the drive, my headlights overheated and started to flash on and off. We were so scared, because we were on the highway! It took us about 2 hours to get home because we drove so slowly in the breakdown lane! I told my family about the headlights and the next day we went out and found myself a new car!

  44. Ah, yes. Well, a friend and I were working at our schools Freshmen Sleepover (freshmen sleep at the school, and upperclassman help teachers supervise). We were trying to keep certain areas empty, and we ended up in the back of the school, by the fence, getting some students back to the quad. As we were finishing our rounds, other upperclassman from outside the fence (and the roofs) beginning egging us, mistaking us for freshmen (I blame my tiny friend). Needless to say, we screamed our heads off. And ran, fast!

  47. My middle of the night adventures are rather tedious. You see, we have irrigation (for watering the garden/lawn) that rotates the time it comes. Every three weeks, it arrives at 2:54 am. We dutifully wake up, slog outside, step through ice cold water, and ensure all our vegetables and patches of grass receive enough water for the week. It is quite thrilling. Best way to spend an hour of random time in the middle of the night.

I’ve only had one midnight adventure.
I slept the night over at a neighbor’s house with my sister. Our plan was to sneak out and go watch some of our friends play soccer. My sister had done this many times, while I hadn’t. Sneaking out seemed simple enough, just jump out of the window and meet our ride at the corner. Let me tell you something, jumping out of that window was horrifying. I hadn’t realized the window was that far from the ground, and to top that off, the whole time I thought we were going to get caught.
We snuck away without getting caught. I mingled around and met some pretty cool people. I had no idea what time we got back to my neighbor’s, but I was sure it was pretty late. I had a nice night overall and I don’t regret it.

  54. Haha this one is a good question! When I was a sophmore in HS, I used to work at this movie theater and so I got accusumed to sleep very late at night and sleep during the day (well only during the summer). So one night when we weren't working, a lot of my coworkers and I ended up going to this park at like 1 in the morning right and we were swinging on the swings, sliding down the slide and doing all these childish things. Next thing you know, a police officer happens to drive by and sees up so he stops and of coarse I was the only one that was breaking neighborhood curfew because I was 16 at the time. So the officer kept asking for our ages and stuff and I was nervous I knew I was going to screw it up and get sent to jail or something for breaking curfew but then right before the officer came to me, one of my coworkers cuts in and goes, "Hey do you know so and so officer that works at the grand?" and they launched into this ten minute discussion about officers that worked at the theaters so he kind of saved me. So after the ten minutes of talking, he told us to not be roaming around parks because they close at midnight. So we got into the car and just drove to get some tacos. We stayed out until about 5 or 6 and this ended up becoming our ritual for many summer nights that summer. I do have to say, it was the best summer of all of my HS years.
