Hardcover vs. Paperback 45

My Husband's Sweethearts by Bridget Asher

Hardcover

Paperback

Amazon.com:

When Lucy Shoreman discovered that her charming, cheating husband was dying, she came home, opened up his little black book, and decided she wasn’t going through this alone. After all, Artie’s sweethearts were there for the good times—is it fair that Lucy should have to manage the hard times herself? So she dials up the women and invites them for one last visit, never expecting any of them will actually show up. But when they do, along with a young man who may be Artie’s long-lost son, it’s only the first of many surprises in store.

Filled with heart, humor, and wisdom, Bridget Asher’s unforgettable novel turns a fresh eye on the joys and catastrophes of marriage, family, kindred friendships between women—and the sort of forgiveness that can change one’s entire life in the most unexpected and extraordinary ways.

I read this as a hardcover and thought the cover was all fine and well, wasn't my favorite but it was nice. When I saw the paperback I wasn't really sure what to think. I love the fonts and the colors and the little black book. But not that the sweethearts look like they are being smashed to death, by the book. That's a little weird... I mean I get it but I don't. LOL. Tie!

  1. I think I like the first one better. It looks, I don't know, "cleaner" to me.

I love both, they are cute, but the first one is cuter :)

  3. Oh goodness, they're both pretty horrible. I like the second one better than the first but the dead sweethearts are a bit grim.

  4. I'm not crazy about either, but I'll pick the paperback. I'm with you - I don't like the image of the girlfriends being smashed in the little black book.

  5. I like the paperback slightly better but they are both pretty terrible covers. :(

  7. Okay, so glad you said what you did because my first thought was the that the sweethearts were being flattened to death -- and the their little legs waving in the air is almost creepy! So if forced to pick it's the first one with the shoes.

  8. Neither one really tickles my fancy. But after reading the blurb I think I'll go with the paperback version. Seems more fitting.

  9. Yeah, the first is kind of pointless but it seems that in the second they should be coming out of the book instead of going into it (if that's what they're doing).

  10. Both are cute but I love the first one, it's not as cluttered as the first one and I love how cute all of the lined-up shoes are!

  13. I love the second one, but I think it looks more like the women are falling out of the address book rather than being smashed by the book. The first one was so boring to me.
