Your Favorite Romance Novel?

Last week I completed my first ever romance novel! 9 Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake by Sarah MacLean. Let's just say I LOVED it (review coming in March!).

In the past few months a bunch of you have given me suggestions of your favorite romance novels when I first became interested (yes, it took me this long to actually sit down and read one!). I have lists EVERYWHERE. But now I am OBSESSED.

I thought I'd ask for your favorite romance novel (maybe again-sorry!). Thanks to anyone that shares a suggestion! I'd love to read some of your romance novel reviews too if you have any or any great romance novel blogs you follow or author! I'm completely new to the genre!

Maybe you have some good tidbits about the the genre or yourself have never read a romance novel. Let's chat!

And this is where it all started: 1 2 (thanks to Sarah and everyone else for being awesome!)

  1. I don't read a lot of it but Forever Amber. Such an amazing read and it was even banned for a while for 'corset gripping action' it's not too skanky like the one I just read and glances over several events in King Charle's Reign.

  2. i read a lot of Nora Roberts, Julie Garwood and Nicholas Sparks. try Nora Roberts' Bride Quartet Novels. :D or Sister Island Trilogy.

  3. I love a lot of Judith McNaught's novels and she wrote both historical and contemporary romance. For historical romance, I would suggest Almost Heaven and Whitney, My Love whilst for contemporary, I enjoyed Perfect and Paradise =)

  4. I never read a romance novel until I came across "The Tea Rose" by Jennifer Donnelly, to say I was sucked in is an understatement!!!! Then when I found out there was a sequel, "The Winter Rose" I almost had a heart attack!

They're both unbelievably good and this is by the same author who wrote the YA novel "A Northern Light" which is also a great read. If you decide to read it, I'd love to get your take on it :o)

  6. I recently read 2 books from Nora Roberts Bride Quartet series . They are awesome. Not much of a romance reader but Vision In White and Bed Of Roses were absolutely amazing books. Danielle Steel's Granny Dan and Jewels were good too.

I'm not a romance reader, especially the ones with the near-porn covers, but to answer the question, my favorite romance book was Bedlam, Bath, and Beyond. Yes, even my romance books have to have the paranormal in it, but I mean really, Cor is a sexy, sexy Fairy. :-D

  9. I really started reading romance when I began reviewing for TGTBTU (goodbadandunread.com). You might like THE MOST WICKED OF SINS by Kathryn Caskie or PRIVATE ARRANGEMENTS by Sherry Thomas.

  12. I have no idea what you've been recommended before, but my very favorite romance author is Julia Quinn, especially her early Bridgerton series. I love The Duke and I, The Viscount Who Loved Me, An Offer From a Gentleman, Romancing Mr Bridgerton, and When He Was Wicked. (And that's even the right order!) All her books are great, though.

Similarly awesome, Lisa Kleypas's Wallflower series is widely regarded to be excellent, and I have read the first 3 and would agree. Kleypas's books are a little "steamier". And Elizabeth Chadwick's early books are great examples of medieval romance. I don't really read much that isn't historical, but an awesome contemporary romance writer is Jennifer Crusie. Good luck!

  18. I'm so glad you liked Nine Rules so much! I can't wait to read it! I agree, romance novels are sooo addicting! I mostly read historical ones-there are so many great ones! I haven't seen Lisa Kleypas listed yet, all of her books are great! Enjoy!

  19. I haven't read romance in years, I should really get back into it. Maybe with Nine Rules. Old favourites were Something Wonderful by Judith McNaught and The Velvet Series by Jude Deveraux

  20. I'll throw in Lisa Kleypas -- she's fantastic! The Wallflowers series is incredible, starting with Secrets Of A Summer Night. Fantastic, fun historical romance with truly memorable characters!

  21. You have to try The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn. Pretty much all of her Briderton family books are great and will make you laugh.

Julie Garwood's historical romances are also wonderful. My faves are Saving Grace, The Bride, Ransom and The Secret. Definitely will make you laugh too.

That's my big thing with romances. There either has to be a good story or humor. Just sex scenes don't do it for me.

  22. Oh and how could I forget, Say You Love Me by Johanna Lindsey. It's wonderful. Again it's part of a series about the Mallory family but it's by far my favorite.

  24. I read and adored this book as well. I thought Callie was a fantastic heroine! I'm happy to see new readers to the romance genre. If you like historicals, you can't go wrong with Julie Garwood, Julia Quinn and Lisa Kleypas. All three authors write fantastic historicals. Judith McNaught's Something Wonderful and Almost Heaven are fantastic books as well.

    Happy reading!

  25. Hi! I like to read a lot of romance novels. One of my favorite authors is Mary Balogh and I really enjoyed her Slightly series. I also read Scandal Becomes Her by Shirlee Busbee and it was pretty good. Nicholas Spark would have to be my most favorite though.
