Hardcover vs Paperback 66

Off Season by Anne Rivers Siddons

Acclaimed novelist Anne Rivers Siddons's new novel is a stunning tale of love and loss.

For as long as she can remember, they were Cam and Lilly--happily married, totally in love with each other, parents of a beautiful family, and partners in life. Then, after decades of marriage, it ended as every great love story does...in loss. After Cam's death, Lilly takes a lone road trip to her and Cam's favorite spot on the remote coast of Maine, the place where they fell in love over and over again, where their ghosts still dance. There, she looks hard to her past--to a first love that ended in tragedy; to falling in love with Cam; to a marriage filled with exuberance, sheer life, and safety-- to try to figure out her future.

It is a journey begun with tender memories and culminating in a revelation that will make Lilly re-evaluate everything she thought was true about her husband and her marriage.

Definitely the paperback, I think it captures the summary much more than a chair with a sweater (the hardcover). It looks like she's actually gone somewhere instead of just into her backyard.

Hardcover or Paperback?

  1. Paperback cover definitely.

  2. When I first looked at them I said hardcover. But after reading the summary I say paperback.

  3. hardcover looks cooler.. :)

  4. I like the hardcover - that hat and scarf in the paperback just don't work for me.

  5. I'd say hardcover without reading the blurb, but the paperback is more suiting to the summary. But I'm not keen on the huge font for the author's name at the top. It's a bit unnecessary.

  6. I think I like them both equally, though the hardback makes me more intrigued

  7. Hardcover! It's just more sunny and original and I like it.

  8. I disagree - Hardcover to me is classic Maine - with the Adirondack chair, and the cabled sweater depicting the "Off Season" climate.
