Lookalikes 98

Very Le Freak by Rachel Cohn

Album De Boda (Spain) by Nora Roberts

I like this picture so I think they are both sort of nice. I do think the Nora Roberts cover loses the full impact of the photo because of the wider cropping. Both pretty though.

Thanks to Melissa Walker for pointing out this lookalike, she snapped this picture in Spain!

Have you spotted a Lookalike you would like to contribute? Send me an email!

  1. Very Lefreak has more of an impact on me, but they are both pretty.

  3. Ha, I think it's interesting that the image without the crop has less impact. Well, I guess less is more!

  4. I definitely like the top cover better, but they're both good.

  5. I like the first one. I still think she looks like Rachelle LeFever from Twilight.

  6. I agree, LeFreak has more of an impact because of the close shot and the brighter image. This lookalikes fascinate me, because I thought a while ago that the same images were never used on different books. How wrong was I?!

  7. Definitely the top one is better! This is another instance where it looks like they've removed her freckles in the second cover, but maybe they are just harder to see.

  8. I like them both, for different reasons. Very LeFreak has a stronger impact but the Nora Roberts book is very pretty. They convey completely different things. Very LeFreak is more eye-catching though

  10. I wonder if the model who posed for this pic or the photographer who took the pic got any royalties... or even just acknowledgements?

I came to your blog when Shy at The Bibliophile's Journey pointed your blog out to me after I posted a "cover art plagiarism" issue on my blog at http://www.cherrymischievous.com/2010/04/cover-art-plagiarism.html.

And you could also add these covers to your "cover look alike collection" .

So, what do you think Al? Does it come under "plagiarism"? When does plagiarism become plagiarism and when does it not?

I left you a comment on your blog! I'm not sure how the payment side works but I'm sure they are paid for their time at the shoot, sign a model release and are on their way. Not sure if they get anything extra when the photographer decides to use the images for a stock site.
