Lookalikes 155

I think this one goes to Marni, I'm not really a fan of the sideways face, it never seems to look good to me, just awkward. But Ascend has some nice typography! What's really interesting here is that two of the covers are using the same bright blue with their black and white. This is one case I think seeing the original stock photo would help.

  1. Marni is definitely a winner. The sideways face is obviously manipulated.

  2. I featured Marni in one of my "similar covers" posts, and I had found the original stock photo...

I agree with you and Kathy that Marni is definitely the better cover, though I'm not sure I'd pick up either of these books.

  3. It's really hard to see in your comments, but if you click on "original stock photo" in my previous comment, you'll see the photo! :)

    1. Oooh thanks! I was curious to see if it was originally b/w and maybe had that blue happening somewhere. It's crazy both designers ended up using that blue!

    2. Yeah, it's interesting because nearly all the pics I featured in my blog post that included the Marni cover also used a similar blue, even though they were all using different pictures!

  4. Marni is the better one. I love the simplicity of it.

  5. Haha so alike! I definitely prefer Marni even though Ascend has a much nicer font! Put together they could be a brilliant cover! x

  6. They're both pretty but Marni is simpler and thus it wins in my book because it's clean and fresh...exactly what a picture of a girl blowing flowers evokes. Love it!
