Today's Question: What is your favorite thing to cook and why?
From the Novel Adventures website:
A delightful true story of food, Paris, and the fulfillment of a lifelong dream In 2003, Kathleen Flinn, a thirty-six-year-old American living and working in London, returned from vacation to find that her corporate job had been eliminated. Ignoring her mother's advice that she get another job immediately or never get hired anywhere ever again, Flinn instead cleared out her savings and moved to Paris to pursue a dream a diploma from the famed Le Cordon Bleu cooking school. The Sharper Your Knife, the Less You Cry is the touching and remarkably funny account of Flinnâ's transformation as she moves through the school's intense program and falls deeply in love along the way. Flinn interweaves more than two dozen recipes with a unique look inside Le Cordon Bleu amid battles with demanding chefs, competitive classmates, and her wretchedly inadequate French. Flinn offers a vibrant portrait of Paris, one in which the sights and sounds of the cities street markets and purveyors come alive in rich detail. The ultimate wish fulfillment book, her story is a true testament to pursuing a dream. Fans of Julie & Julia, Almost French, and Eat, Pray, Love will be amused, inspired, and richly rewarded by this seductive tale of romance, Paris, and French food.

I don't actually like cooking... I like baking! My favorite thing to bake is my Coca-Cola Cake :)
ReplyDeleteI am a cooking freak and love to cook most anything, but this time of year it is pies, all sorts. I love making pie crust, making pumpkin, fresh apple, cherry, berry, coconut cream, banana. YUMMY
ReplyDeleteI love to bake cheesecakes. Don't ask me why, because I don't like to eat them. I think I like to bake them because I can do it well and people rave over them. I made one for Thanksgiving and my guys got into it last night.
ReplyDeleteI love to cook all sorts of stuff! My roommate is a cake decorator, so she usually handles the baking. My favorite thing is my Mexican vegetarian lasagna. I have a recipe for it on Instructables.
ReplyDeleteThat book sounds really good. I have a copy of Under the Tuscan Sun that's been on my TBR pile for ages, and I might have to get a copy of The Sharper Your Knife to read, too. :)
I like to make a semi-homemade black refried bean dip with nachos and guacamole. Everything is from scratch except the refried beans and the naco sauce.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to cook is my lasagna ... which coincidentally I am making tonight and calling "Thanksgiving Lasagna". Fresh herbs, extra garlic and lots of ooey gooey cheese make this my favorite thing to cook AND my favorite thing to eat.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what my favorite thing to cook is so I'll just say pumpkin pie! I made one yesterday and it was fun. :P

ReplyDeleteI love baking more than cooking. I love to make chocolate chip cookies, banana bread and my specialty, fresh fruit cobbler.
ReplyDeleteokay, now I'm hungry. =)
Like others, I like baking more than cooking - perhaps because there is more room for experimentation in baking? My favorite thing to bake is a delicious apple and honey cake.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to cook is pasta. I love all the different things you can do with it and how it is really versatile!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE LOVE LOVE to cook. I especially enjoy cooking food that is completely different from the food that I grew up eating...which for the most part was basic American fare. So, I enjoy cooking Indian, Turkish, and other fare that helps me to learn new things about different foods and cultures.
ReplyDeleteI like making any sort of truffles. They are super easy to make and so delicious!
ReplyDeleteI love to read anything about cooking-everything from cookbooks to books by famous cooks! I even watch cooking shows on TV! I like to cook easy stuff--spaghetti, enchiladas, etc. and I like to BBQ.

I think it's chili because I've tweaked the recipe over the years to make it my own and I can change the ingredients every time I make it according to what I feel like.
