Hardcover vs. Paperback 29

Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott

Hardcover

Paperback

Borders.com:

"Once upon a time, I was a little girl who disappeared.

Once upon a time, my name was not Alice.

Once upon a time, I didn't know how lucky I was."

When Alice was ten, Ray took her away from her family, her friends -- her life. She learned to give up all power, to endure all pain. She waited for the nightmare to be over.

Now Alice is fifteen and Ray still has her, but he speaks more and more of her death. He does not know it is what she longs for. She does not know he has something more terrifying than death in mind for her.

This is Alice's story. It is one you have never heard, and one you will never, ever forget.

I always thought the hardcover was fine and good but I'm really drawn to the paperback. The simpleness of the bow and the dark background make for a very creepy-cute cover.

Hardcover or Paperback?

  1. It's the hardcover all the way for me.

  2. I would have to say the hardcover, but it is really hard to choose! They are both really good covers! I will be reading the book soon so I hope to figure out the meaning of the ribbon!

  3. Hardcover. I love the second cover, but it doesn't seem to fit with the theme of the book.

  4. Definitely the hardcover ^_^

  5. I want to read this one regardless of the cover. I'm not sure that the paperback captures the book as well, but I am totally drawn to the ribbon!

  6. The hardcover fits so much better with the plot. The ribbon is visually attractive, but not as compelling as the hardcover.

  7. I like both, but I think I'd pick up the hardcover more quickly.

  8. I like both, but I like the hardcover much more.

  9. The paperback is more visually attractive, but the hardcover is more haunting, which, IMO, is a better fit for the subject matter. I vote hardcover.

  10. Hardcover, definitely. It's more menacing, with the photographer's leg being caught in the shot like that.

  20. I just read this yesterday - what an amazing, scary book. Hardcover for me! It's haunting.

  21. Hardcover is simply haunting. The paperback is cute and creepy, but the hardcover is edgy and makes you wonder what goes on inside.

  22. Hardcover is the best. I love the paperback also but it is nothing compared to the hardcover. : )

  23. Confession--I love the hardcover cover for the book, but I actually love the paperback version more. When I first saw it, I thought, "I HAVE to get this book!" and then realized "Duh. I wrote it." But such is the power of a good cover, and I think the paperback cover for LIVING DEAD GIRL is very good indeed :-)

(And I should note I can't take ANY credit for it--it's all Russell Gordon, design genius!)

I like them both. But I think I like the hardcover more. The dress reminds me of a dress Courtney Love would wear in the 90s, kind of kinderwhoreish.
