Georgia Nicolson Reading Challenge!

This awesome challenge was put together by Greenbeanteenqueen! Yay! When I joined my first few challenges in 2009 I thought my just joining a few I could seriously finish them all and it's really not looking like that. So instead with these new challenges I'm joining I'm just going to use these as a goal and try not to be so hard on myself. We'll see how it goes!

Here are the rules:

1. Between now and June 18, 2010 read all ten of the Georgia Nicolson books. They can be any format. (I'm going to cheat and start at the second book because I read the first last summer... though I might need a bit of a refresher.)

2. There's a Mr. Linky at the bottom of the post-sign up here. Greenbeanteenqueen will post another Mr. Linky to post reviews of the books in another post.

3. Post reviews on all the Georgia books you read and share the Ace Gang fun!

4. If you don't have a blog, no worries-join however you want! Post reviews on GoodReads, Amazon, LibraryThing, or Shelfari (or wherever!) or just talk to your friends about the books you read or just leave comments on the challenge posts telling us what you thought.

5. Anyone can join at anytime! So join in and have fun and laugh out loud with Greenbeanteenqueen's favorite British teen!

Who's with me, join up!

I thought it would help me if I made a list of the books to see what I need to do to prep for the challenge. Here are all the books:

Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging
On the Bright Side, I'm Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God
Knocked Out by My Nunga-Nungas (need to buy)
Dancing In My Nuddy Pants
Away Laughing on a Fast Camel (need to buy)
Then He Ate My Boy Entrancers
Startled by His Furry Shorts
Love is a Many Trousered Thing
Stop in the Name of Pants (need to buy)
Are These My Basoomas I See Before Me? (released Oct 6 2009)

If you do decide to join make sure to go here and sign-up with your own challenge post in the mr. linky. It looks like after July 4th there will also be a new mr. linky for review posts!

Here are the titles in the series so far:

Club Dead
Dead to the World
Dead as a Doornail
Definitely Dead

I'm super excited about a short stories anthology that's coming out in the fall called A Touch of Dead!

Fall Into Reading 2008 Challenge Wrap Up

So my first ever reading challenge has come to an end today! And I think I finished it, tell me if you agree? I read 12 of the 13 books on my list with the 13th being a book I started and ended up giving up on. I would have finished it if I didn't decide to abandon it. I didn't change any of the books on my list which I'm pretty proud of!

Here's my list:
3. The Wordy Shipmates gave up on after 80 pgs this rarely happens!
10. The Grift

Did you finish reading all the books on your fall reading list? If not, why not?
As I said above, finished 12/13 with the 13th being one I decided I didn't want to finish. So to me yes I did! I also read about 11 other books that weren't on the list.

Did you stick to your original goals or did you change your list as you went along?
I did stick to my original list which I'm proud of! I really wanted to finish these books by today and I did!

What was your favorite book that you read this fall? Least favorite? Why?
My favorite book I read this fall off of my list was Perfect On Paper with Off the Menu coming in a close second! Least favorite would have to be the book I didn't finish, The Wordy Shipmates. After 80 or so pages I realized I couldn't remember anything I had read and that wasn't a good sign!

Did you learn something new because of the Fall Into Reading challenge?—something about reading, or yourself, or a topic you read about?
One thing I learned was maybe I need to take a break from short stories. It seems to me that often times the short stories don't have concrete endings and it started to get to me with Swimming With Strangers.

What was your favorite thing about the Fall Into Reading challenge?
My favorite thing was making a reading list and seeing myself complete it! I loved crossing books off as I read them, I'm looking forward to doing that with my 3 challenges for 2009!

Thanks to Katrina of Callapidder Days for hosting this challenge!

What was the last challenge you completed or one you are joining in 2009?

Graphic Novels Challenge 2009

So I was super excited to find out that Laza had started a graphic novel challenge! She has even created levels of participation you can choose from. So I looked over all the graphic novels I have to read and wanted to read and decided to go for the highest level, Doctorate, which is to read 24 graphic novels! I'm taking the term graphic novel a bit loosely to include some anthologies, smaller comic books and an illustrated zine anthology. Anyhow I'm very excited. Check out the challenge's blog here to join!

2009 Young Adult Book Challenge

So I am doing pretty well with my first ever reading challenge, the Fall Into Reading challenge. I have read 10/13 books so far. One of the remaining 3 I don't think I'm going to finish inside of the time period, maybe someday, I'm just not feeling it.

Anyhow, J. Kaye is hosting a young adult challenge for 2009. And if you know me, you know I've been picking up young adult books like crazy lately, so I've decided this is the challenge for me!

Guidelines for 2009 Young Adult Book Challenge

1. Anyone can join. You don't need a blog to participate. (Click here to join!)

2. Read 12 Young Adult novels. You may list your chosen books any time during the year. Change the list if needed.

3. Challenge begins January thru December, 2009.

4. You can join anytime between now and December 31, 2009.

Here is my list:

3. Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
6. Looking For Alaska by John Green
7. Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
8. Teach Me by R.A. Nelson
9. Fourth Comings by Megan McCafferty
10. The Boys Next Door by Jennifer Echols
11. Cathy's Key by Sean Stewart and Jordan Weisman
12. Paper Towns by John Green (swapped out Rumors for this one)

It's my goal to read a lot more YA lit in 2009 than this but it's just a starting place!

Will you be joining this challenge? I know we had this discussion a few weeks ago about what YA I should read first, so scream at me and demand me to add some more must reads!

Fall Into Reading 2008 Challenge

I was inspired to join my first challenge, the Fall Into Reading 2008 Challenge thanks to S. Krishna! She mentioned it was her first challenge and how she had never joined any before because it's hard to read books on a whim when you're part of a challenge! I agree with her, this one seems very flexible. I couldn't help but start the mental list in my mind so I decided to join in too!

Here's my list:
3. The Wordy Shipmates gave up on after 80 pgs this rarely happens!
10. The Grift

I definitely hope to read more than these 13 books over the next 3 months but this is what I'm thinking I'll focus on first of all. I'm sure others will sneak their way in!

Are you doing this challenge?
