Lookalikes 132

Reaching Through Time by Lurlene McDaniel

Return to Paradise by Simone Elkeles

It really upsets me when a stock photo I really don't like pops up more than once and that is the case here. The photo is just so staged and awkward, you can't even see the girl's nose, I just can't dig it! I'm usually all about simple design but in this case I like the first cover because all the swirls and bright colors in the background help distract from the image.

Thanks to Yan who suggested this lookalike!

  2. I'm with you on this one. Neither cover is all that great.

  4. Wow - we didn't need that image once. And now it's out there at least twice! Yikes!

  5. I agree. That is one really, really bad stock photo.

  6. I think cover one makes up for the weirdness of the shot with pretty graphic effects done to it, as you mentioned. But the guy looks really cute in both covers, so I can distract myself easily. :D

  7. Don't know if you've done these books yet but here are two more:

Tales from the Yoga Studio by Rain Mitchell

    and

The Life You've Imagined by Kristina Riggle

  8. Good grief! This is awful. How hard is it to snap a picture of two teenagers about to kiss. Is there not a mall they could just hop on over too. Wow....this is sad.

It is a very awkward picture. and I agree the first one was the least bad of the two

  10. Hey Alea, new goodreads friend! I like your blog title--I'm a pop culture junkie too.

Looks like these publishers were busted, using the same photo. I don't think the photo's bad--I like the tension of them about to kiss--but it's not good to have the same stock photo on different colors. It's like showing up to a party wearing the same dress as one of the guests!

  11. It still continues to amaze me that publixhers use the same imagery on book covers. I'd think they'd want to be more unique.
